| From the thumb of Lord Brahma, who stemmed from the navel of Sri Maha Vishnu, Daksha Prajapati emanated. His daughter Aditi married Kasyapa Prjapati. Lord Maha Vishnu for the benefit of the worlds took birth from her womb as twelve adityas "Dvaadasaadityas" (Dhaatr, Mitra, Aryaman, Rudra, Varuna, Surya, Bhaga, Vivasvan, Pushan, Savitaa, Tvashtaa and Vishnu) on seventh waning (moon) day of Magha month (lunar calendar) coinciding with Visakha nakshatra. |

| The Sun god, Lord Surya, married Sangna the daughter of Viswakarma. They had two sons and one daughter by names Vasuv, Yama and Yamuna. Finding his radiance intolerable Sangna bestowed life to her shadow and named her Chaya. Sangna left Chaya to be with her husband in her place. Unaware of the development, Lord Surya continued to be with Chaya thinking her to be Sangna. Chaya gave birth to Manu, Sani (planet Saturn) and Tapati. In due course of time realizing the truth, Lord Surya went in search of Sangna and brought her back. |

| Hearing of the total episode, Tvashta Prajapati took out one eighth of Sun's radiance from which he created Trishul (Trident) for Lord Siva, Sudarshana (Disc) for Lord Vishnu and various weapons for different gods. |
